If you make beats, you know this moment.
The melody is done. It's good. Maybe the best loop you've made all month.
Then you open the drum track.
An empty grid. Sixteen steps. Nothing on them.
You click in a kick. A snare on the 3. Hats on every eighth. You press play.
It sounds like a metronome with an 808 on it.
So you start fixing it. Move a hat. Add a roll. Nudge a velocity. An hour goes by. Then two.
The beat still doesn't move. You save it as "idea_v3" and close the project.
How many of those are sitting in your beats folder right now?
Here's the part nobody says out loud. Most producers blame the wrong thing.
They blame the sounds. So they buy another kit. Harder 808s. Crispier snares. One more tutorial at 2 AM.
The sounds get better. The drums still sit there.
Because the problem was never the sounds.
